About Clif:
Clif was born and raised in Northwestern Montana. He has been blending art and dolls since childhood. Clif created dolls made of hollyhock flowers and buds that his grandmother taught him to make and designed bathroom tissue ball gowns for his childhood Barbie® doll. From spending his Junior High lunch money on fashions for his first two Barbie® dolls to the unique and beautiful creations he handmakes now, Clif has always loved combining fashion, dolls, and art. He's worked as an artisan all of his adult life. He currently makes molds and does waxwork for the renowned wildlife bronze sculptor Frank DiVita. Clif does watercolor paintings for friends and family in his spare time as well as creating his fashion doll art. He performs miraculous feats of restoration on his extensive vintage collection that he's been acquiring since the late Seventies. His many volumes of sketch books, which he uses as diaries, canvas his feelings and emotions; he chooses this expression over the written page. He currently lives with Miss Meeps (Missy)-- his lovely flame-point Siamese mix and resides at his family home in the woods of Montana.
Carlota on Clif:
After my precious friend Brian sent me Clif’s pictures, I simply knew I had to have one of Clif’s gorgeous bubblecuts. When I called him, he was a complete charm. Clif has a quietness and warmth to him that I appreciate, both on the phone and in is work. When I found out he made molds for a living, I asked the obvious, “Any plans for your own doll?” Clif paused for a moment, and then answered that it if he did, it would be porcelain, his preferred medium. I say keep an eye on this artist, we’ll be seeing a lot more of his work, and not just on Barbie® or other fashion dolls!
